Delivery Terms

Version 1.0 · Last updated 18 October 2026

These terms explain what you agree to when you carry a parcel on Shifly: how to collect, carry and deliver it safely and lawfully, how you are paid, and what happens if something goes wrong.

1. What these terms cover

These Delivery Terms apply each time you, as a traveller, accept a parcel job on Shifly: from the moment you tap Agree & accept delivery until Shifly staff confirm the parcel was delivered. They sit alongside the Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy. If they conflict on a parcel job, these Delivery Terms apply.

You carry parcels as an independent traveller, not as an employee, agent or contractor of Shifly or of the sender. Shifly runs the platform, the hubs and the handovers, and stands behind senders under the Shifly Guarantee.

2. Who can accept parcel jobs

To accept a job you must:

  • be 18 or over and hold a Shifly account in your own name;
  • verify your identity with our ID partner, Didit (a government ID and a live face match), before your first job;
  • have a confirmed booking for the flight the job is on, verified by Shifly, in the same name as your verified ID;
  • have accepted the current traveller terms; and
  • not be suspended, and have no unresolved parcel claim against you.

Shifly may ask for more details before you take further jobs, for example if you carry often or earn above set amounts. Verifying doesn't guarantee you will be offered or assigned any job.

3. Offers and accepting a job

  • Shifly offers you parcels that fit the free space on one of your verified flights. Each offer shows the parcel's contents, weight, the pickup hub, the drop-off point, the deadline and what you will earn.
  • You may accept or decline any offer. Offers you don't accept lapse after 24 hours and may go to another traveller.
  • Accepting reserves the parcel's weight on your flight. You agree to collect the parcel before departure and deliver it by the date shown.
  • Your earnings for the job are fixed when you accept, less any delivery fee you chose (section 5).

4. Collecting parcels

Every parcel is opened, inspected, weighed, photographed and sealed at a Shifly hub before it is offered to you. At collection:

  • bring the ID you verified with; staff check it matches your account and booking;
  • inspect the contents, weight, packaging and seal with staff. Refuse the parcel if anything differs from the offer, or if you can't carry it safely and lawfully;
  • confirm the handover with the code Shifly staff give you. Responsibility for the parcel passes to you only once that code is confirmed.

If you can no longer travel, release the parcel in the app or contact Support as early as you can, so it can go to someone else.

5. Pickup at a Shifly point, or delivery to you

You choose how parcels reach you before you confirm:

  • Pick up at a Shifly point near your departure airport. This is free.
  • Delivery to an address you give, by a local courier. The fee is priced by road distance, shown in A$ (with the courier's ₫ price) before you confirm, and taken from your earnings for the job. Delivery is offered from Vietnam only for now.

With delivery, the parcel stays Shifly's responsibility until you receive it and confirm the handover code. Check the seal on arrival and report any damage before confirming.

6. Carrying parcels

While a parcel is in your care you must:

  • keep it sealed, secure and with you or in your checked baggage, and never open it, swap or add anything;
  • follow your airline's baggage rules, including weight limits and battery rules;
  • declare goods honestly on your Incoming Passenger Card and to Australian Border Force when asked. You are the person presenting the goods at the border;
  • not carry it for anyone else, hand it to anyone other than Shifly staff, or deliver it directly to the sender or recipient; and
  • tell Support straight away if the parcel is damaged, lost, stolen, delayed, held by customs or can't be delivered on time.

7. Items Shifly never sends with travellers

Hubs refuse these items, and they are never offered to travellers. If you find one, refuse the parcel and tell Support:

  • medicines, prescription or traditional medicines, medical test patches, injectables and medical devices, which may only be brought into Australia for yourself;
  • meat, eggs, honey, dairy and milk powder, seeds and bird's nest, which are banned or restricted by Australian biosecurity;
  • brand copies of clothing, shoes, watches and accessories, which Australian Border Force seizes;
  • gas canisters, chemical sprays and other dangerous goods;
  • cash, gold, weapons, drugs, and anything else illegal to export from Vietnam or import into Australia.

Some other items (for example electronics with batteries, perfume, cosmetics and liquids) carry a handling surcharge for the sender but can still be carried within airline rules.

8. Customs, duty and the border

Australia allows each adult passenger A$900 of general goods free of duty. Goods carried for someone else, or for a fee, may not count towards that allowance and can be assessed for duty and GST on their full value.

If you pay border duty or GST, or excess baggage, because of a Shifly parcel, pay it, keep the receipt, and claim it on the parcel in the app with a photo of the receipt, in the currency you paid. The sender is told and may dispute the claim. Shifly staff approve or reject it, and approved amounts are added to your wallet. You can claim once you've collected the parcel, up to 5 claims per parcel; contact Support for anything further.

Shifly does not repay fines or penalties for false declarations, or costs caused by goods you added yourself.

9. Delivering parcels

  • Drop each parcel at the Shifly point shown on the job by its drop-off date.
  • Staff check the seal and weigh the parcel again and confirm delivery with the handover code. Your responsibility ends at that confirmation.
  • If the seal is broken or the weight differs, staff record it with photos and may hold your earnings for that parcel while Shifly looks into it (section 11).

10. Earnings and payouts

  • Your earnings for a parcel enter your Shifly wallet after staff confirm delivery. Nothing is paid for parcels you don't deliver.
  • You can request a payout to an Australian bank account in your name, which Shifly staff process, or collect AUD cash at a Shifly point using your pickup QR.
  • You are responsible for any tax on your earnings. If you carry regularly you may need to give an ABN; Shifly may ask for it and check it with the Australian Business Register.
  • Feathers (rewards) earned for deliveries follow the rewards rules in the Terms of Service.

11. Your responsibility for parcels

You are responsible for each parcel from collection until staff confirm delivery. If a parcel is lost, damaged, opened or kept while in your care, Shifly pays the sender under the Shifly Guarantee, up to the parcel's recorded value and the Guarantee limits. You agree to repay Shifly that amount, and Shifly may recover it:

  • from your Shifly wallet balance and from future earnings;
  • by withholding pending payouts while a claim is open; or
  • by other lawful means, including small-claims proceedings or a debt collector.

You are not responsible for loss or damage caused by Shifly, by a courier Shifly arranged, by customs or police action you couldn't avoid, or by events outside your control that you reported promptly, such as airline mishandling of checked baggage. Report airline mishandling to the airline at the airport and send Support the airline's report.

12. Claims, investigations and information sharing

If a sender makes a claim, Shifly reviews the hub records (weight, photos, seal number) and the handover confirmations, and asks for your account. You agree to answer promptly and to cooperate in good faith.

You agree that Shifly may share your verified identity, contact details, booking and trip details and the parcel's handover records with police, courts, insurers and debt collectors in Vietnam or Australia if a parcel in your care is lost, stolen or not returned. Shifly shares only what a documented request or dispute needs. See the Privacy Policy.

13. Suspension and cancelling jobs

Shifly may cancel a job, or suspend your ability to take jobs, if:

  • your flight changes or is cancelled, or your booking no longer matches your verified ID;
  • you miss a collection or drop-off without telling Support;
  • a parcel in your care is lost, damaged or tampered with; or
  • you break these terms, the law, or airline or border rules.

You can release an accepted parcel before you collect it, so it can go to another traveller.

14. Changes to these terms

Shifly may update these Delivery Terms. Changes apply only to jobs you accept after the update, and the app asks you to agree to the new version before your next job. Jobs you already accepted keep the terms you agreed to.

15. Contact

Questions about a job, a parcel or these terms: contact Shifly Support in the app. For urgent problems while travelling (a damaged, held or lost parcel), contact Support before you leave the airport.
